Senior Research Associate, Financial Security and Mobility Project, The Pew Charitable Trusts

Walter Lake (Walt) is a Senior Research Associate for the Financial Security and Mobility Project (FSM) at The Pew Charitable Trusts. As a member of Pew’s FSM team his research focuses on understanding the financial well-being of families and the connection between short-term economic security and long-term economic mobility.

Financial Security and Mobility Project at Pew conducts research to provide a clear, unbiased picture of the fiscal health of families and the factors that affect it. By understanding how households face economic challenges and government policies and programs affect households propensity to save or spend, Pew seeks to better inform policy debates and provide holistic data driven solutions.

Walt received a master’s degree in International Relations with a concentration in statistical methods and complexity science from The Pennsylvania State University where he was a Bunton Waller Fellow prior to joining the Pew Charitable Trusts.
