Joanna Biernacka-Lievestro is a senior research associate with The Pew Charitable Trusts’ financial security and mobility project. She designs and conducts original research on the balance sheets of American families with the emphasis on comparing the economic health of households across geographic areas.

Previously, Biernacka-Lievestro was a graduate research assistant at George Mason University’s Center for Regional Analysis, where she analyzed the economic and demographic conditions of the Washington metropolitan area.

She holds a doctorate in public policy from George Mason University.
