Jeff McCue is the Commissioner of the Department of Transitional Assistance, appointed by Secretary Sudders and Governor Baker in April 2015. McCue brings to this position over 30 years of experience working in senior level positions within the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. Commissioner McCue started in state service at the Department of Social Services at its inception (now known as the Department of Children and Families), and also held leadership jobs within the Departments of Transitional Assistance and Mental Health. His appointment to DTA is his second stint with the agency, having served as the Director of Human Resources for the then-named Department of Public Welfare in the mid-eighties. Immediately prior to rejoining DTA, McCue was the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Human Resources at the University of Massachusetts–Boston, after serving in a similar capacity as the Chief Human Resources Officer for the Executive Office of Health and Human Services. Commissioner McCue’s passion in the Human Resources arena, coupled with his extensive experience in human services administration serves him and DTA well as the Department seeks to promote employment and training opportunities to its clients on the road to true self-sufficiency. In 2009, McCue was the recipient of the Eugene H. Rooney, Jr. Public Service Award for excellence in the field of Human Resource Development and Training. He received his Bachelor of Arts and Political Science at Merrimack College and a Master’s in Public Administration from Suffolk University.
