Isabel Gonzalez-Webster

Director, Family Child Care Department, SEIU Local 509

Isabel Gonzalez-Webster is the Director of the Family Child Care Department at SEIU Local 509. For 20 years she has been a community activist working on various issues ranging from economic, racial and social justice to community accountability, violence against women, education and electoral organizing. Isabel incorporates popular education in her organizing and political work. As part of the SEIU Local 509 team, Isabel works with early educators to improve access to high quality early education programs for low income and working families, as well as improving conditions and wages for the workforce.

Isabel was a 2009 Community Advocates for Young Learners in Early Education and Care Schott Fellow and named one of Worcester Business Journal’s 2010 40 Under 40 Awardees. In 2002, she was featured as one of the Future 25 youth organizers in the U.S. by Active Element Foundation “Future 500 –Youth Organizing and Activism in the U.S.”

Prior to joining the staff at Local 509, Isabel was Chief of Staff to Mayor Joe O’Brien, Worcester, MA.
